About the Company

The Goodfellows Italian Food Company is owned by Mike and Sandy Pontello, a Houston couple who have enjoyed sharing their love of homestyle Italian food and sweets for almost 50 years.

Our Story

Mike’s family immigrated from Italy to Houston’s East End in the 1930s where they owned grocery stores like many Italian immigrants. Sandy’s family immigrated to the US from Czechoslovakia and settled in Shiner, Texas - home of the famous Shiner beer. Both Sandy and Mike’s parents raised them in Houston, where they met each other in 1974 and have been together ever since.

Over the years, Sandy took on a a keen interest in learning how to cook Italian food from Mike’s mom and grandmas. Sandy’s passion and talent in perfecting the family’s recipes led her to starting the Goodfellows Italian Food Company with Mike, so that everyone can enjoy these dishes.
